Float centers exist at the crossroads of business and transformation, offering more than just relaxation—they provide access to profound altered states of consciousness. In this session, Kevin Johnson explores what truly makes float centers unique, shifting the focus away from conventional wellness industry narratives and back to the phenomenology of floating. Rather than rehashing the science, this talk challenges owners and operators to embrace the float tank as a tool for deep integrative healing and self-exploration. Attendees will leave with a renewed perspective on how to position their float centers as gateways to consciousness, setting them apart in an oversaturated wellness market.

Join Dr. Flux on another scientific journey to explore the “exposome,” the vast quantity of environmental exposures that impact the health of all living organisms. With colorful science, and a little help from his pal Clara, he’ll explore the implications of this research on how to promote holistic wellness in a float center, with an emphasis on skin care products and beverage/food sales.

Maui Calm has arrived!

Dr. Justin Feinstein

Sun

11:00 am

Regency DEFG

The Maui Calm project was first envisioned at the 2023 Float Conference, only two weeks after the devastating fires destroyed Lahaina and killed over 100 people, making it the deadliest wildfire that America has experienced over the past century. The project aims to provide free float therapy to all fire survivors, first responders, and frontline workers on Maui in effort to address the unprecedented surge of PTSD on the island. Following an extensive fundraising effort, our float facility will officially be arriving to Maui this summer as a mobile float facility that is specially-constructed inside of a shipping container. This presentation will detail how Maui Calm was brought to life, from its initial conception to constructing the float facility in partnership with Floataway to finding a central location in Lahaina for placement of our facility. Since we are a research-based nonprofit, we plan to collect data and track outcomes over time, which will provide a pivotal proof-of-principle for using this deployable model of float therapy to address real-world traumas and disasters from the moment they occur.

Understanding the role and the thought processes of health department staff is key to keeping both your current as well as expanding float centers open.
