From the Microbiome to the Exposome: Using Science to Inform Wellness Approaches at Float Centers
Dr. Flux
Regency DEFG
The science of the microbiome has suddenly become pervasive. From popular books to a Netflix docuseries, it’s impossible to avoid the growing body of research that the microbes living in harmony with our bodies are deeply intertwined with our health. But what affects the health of these microbes, and what the heck does this have to do with floating? Join Dr. Flux on another scientific journey to explore the “exposome,” the vast quantity of environmental exposures that impact the health of all living organisms. With colorful science, and a little help from his pal Clara, he’ll explore the implications of this research on how to promote holistic wellness in a float center, with an emphasis on skin care products and beverage/food sales.

"Can the float tank industry be saved?"
Glenn Perry
Regency DEFG
In this presentation, I’ll outline a practical and accessible approach to building a professional-grade vibroacoustic setup without relying on expensive turnkey solutions. Drawing from firsthand experience prototyping a multi-transducer bed system for both personal and professional use, I’ll walk through the essential components—transducers, amplifiers, signal routing, and materials—while demystifying key technical terms for a non-engineering audience. I’ll share cost-effective configurations at different budget levels, discuss the unique affordances of vibroacoustics in float center contexts, and evaluate both the benefits and limitations of integrating this modality. Whether you’re seeking to expand your center’s sensory offerings or deepen personal experimentation with sound and somatic experience, this talk offers a replicable roadmap.

Community Building: How Our Spaces can Serve as the Epicenter of Amity
Shawnee Powers
Regency DEFG
The Maui Calm project was first envisioned at the 2023 Float Conference, only two weeks after the devastating fires destroyed Lahaina and killed over 100 people, making it the deadliest wildfire that America has experienced over the past century. The project aims to provide free float therapy to all fire survivors, first responders, and frontline workers on Maui in effort to address the unprecedented surge of PTSD on the island. Following an extensive fundraising effort, our float facility will officially be arriving to Maui this summer as a mobile float facility that is specially-constructed inside of a shipping container. This presentation will detail how Maui Calm was brought to life, from its initial conception to constructing the float facility in partnership with Floataway to finding a central location in Lahaina for placement of our facility. Since we are a research-based nonprofit, we plan to collect data and track outcomes over time, which will provide a pivotal proof-of-principle for using this deployable model of float therapy to address real-world traumas and disasters from the moment they occur.

Democratizing Vibroacoustics
Christopher Wardlaw

Besides the basic trend of independent businesses closing there is also a basic weakness in the business model of float centers that is causing businesses to not thrive. Unless that weakness is corrected, the downward trend will continue especially with the advent of harder times. As individual business owners we can easily correct our contribution to the problem and have a successful business. But we must make the correction. This talk tells you how.

The Intergalactic Float Tank Cooperative: A People's History
Marshall Hammond
Regency DEFG
In today’s fast-paced world, chronic stress has become the norm—and it’s costing teams their focus, creativity, and capacity to lead with confidence. In this powerful and practical session, Rachel Benton blends science-backed education, real-life stories, and actionable tools to help individuals understand and regulate their nervous system in everyday moments of stress.
Attendees will learn how the body responds under pressure, why traditional stress management tools often fall short, and how to activate a calm, focused state—right in the middle of the chaos. This session isn’t about bubble baths and deep breathing (though those are nice, too); it’s about giving people a clear, usable framework to access the version of themselves that shows up powerfully in interviews, presentations, and problem-solving—even under pressure.

Float centers can easily find themselves in conflict with their local health department. Health codes, regulations, memorandums of understanding, standards, guidelines, and best practices are a maze of conflicting requirements and directions. How do you know which is best for your center and which will be your doors paddle locked? Why and how does this happen? Understanding the role and the thought processes of health department staff is key to keeping both your current as well as expanding float centers open.
