Through professional athletics and performance, to a decades long practice of meditation, yoga, scientific/philosophical/poetic immersion. Retiring from a 30+ year career as a Psychiatric RN, researcher, educator, therapist and Anatomist. Continuing a private practice of an increasingly simple but deepening somato/spiritual nature. Developing into a ‘Float Contemplative’ in which suspension and immersion dynamics inform a growing intertwinement of science and spirit. Hopefully thinking, moving, communicating from a more interconnected sensibility.

Dan Price.png

Dan Price

Spoke at Float Conference 2020

Raised in rural Idaho, Dan Price founded Gravity Payments from his university dorm room at just 19 years old. His mission–which remains the core of Gravity to this day–was to help the thousands of hard-working small business owners who are consistently overcharged and underserved by their credit card processors.

Dan built his company on the values of honesty, integrity, and transparency instilled in him during his rural upbringing. These simple values have set Dan and his company apart from others in the industry, making Gravity the most trusted name in payments. Today, nearly 20,000 independent businesses across all 50 states trust Gravity to save them millions in fees and hours in frustration by making it easy for them to accept payments.

Dan captured national attention in 2015 when he decided to raise the company’s minimum salary to $70,000 a year. Since then, he has become an outspoken advocate of income equality and, through speeches, articles, and media appearances, has consistently encouraged other business owners to take responsibility for the well-being of their employees. Although he’s been criticized for what some consider his radical policies on pay and equality (Rush Limbaugh famously derided him as "socialist"), Dan believes businesses have enormous power to promote social good, regardless of what industry they’re in, by serving communities instead of shareholders and putting people over profits. In 2019, Pulitzer-Prize-winning columnist Nicholas Kristof wrote in the New York Times that Gravity’s story provides “proof that capitalism can have a heart.”

Dan’s leadership has earned him many awards, most notably Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Entrepreneur of 2014” and the 2010 SBA “National Young Entrepreneur of the Year,” awarded to him by President Obama. In addition to these formal awards, Dan has been credited by other business owners who have decided to raise the minimum salaries at their own organizations.

Dan lives in Seattle and is the author of Worth It: How a Million-Dollar Pay Cut and a $70,000 Minimum Wage Revealed a Better Way of Doing Business, published in 2020.

Brian Kroll

Spoke at Float Conference 2020, 2018

Brian’s life changed in January of 2017 when he floated for the first time. He has suffered chronic back pain since adolescence recently marking 20 years since his final reconstructive surgery that resulted in a spinal fusion of L1 – L5. He avoids pain medication and relies on his high pain tolerance to maintain an active lifestyle with his wife and two children. He has worked over 20 years at the Portland State University Bookstore where he is the Operations Manager.

In the freedom from gravity of his first float Brian experienced a few pain free moments for the first time in nearly four decades. In the months since that first float he has become a member at Float On experimenting with timings and techniques to get the most from his time in the tanks. He has become a floating advocate and hopes sharing his experiences will help bring awareness to its therapeutic potential.

This bio really won’t tell you much at all about Kevin, but hopefully it tells you enough to attend his presentation with Jacob Resch. Kevin is a business school dropout turned psychotherapist who, along with Jacob, then decided to open the first modern era float center in their state, FLOAT STL. 18 months later they opened a second center, and 6 months after that they held a float gathering called RISE which focused on The Heart of Floating.

From a personal and spiritual perspective Kevin believes in the interconnectedness of all beings, is here to give and receive love, and to be in service to others. Michael-Harding-200x200.png

Michael Harding

Spoke at Float Conference 2016

Michael is a former infantryman of the Royal Australian Regiment. In 2010 he was deployed to Afghanistan. After six months Michael was involved in an extended contact with highly trained Taliban insurgents known as the “Battle of Derapet.” It was during this battle that he witnessed the death of his mate “Crash,” following which he was later returned home with a diagnosis of Conversion Disorder, a physical manifestation of trauma and Post Traumatic Stress. The two and a half years following his return were a blur of prescription medications, alcohol abuse, depression, reliving his trauma for the sake of exposure therapy and navigating the frustrating system that is the Department of Veterans Affairs. There were plenty of ups & downs but with the unwavering support of his partner and family he was inspired to find new ways to approach mental health and post traumatic stress.

Michael is currently a Mentor/ Facilitator with Trojan’s Trek and an active advocate for the use of alternative treatments for Service induced stress. His first hand experience of war has given him a unique perspective for viewing the world. In March 2014 Michael started floating. After 6 months he had recognised such an improvement in his condition that they purchased and installed a second-hand float tank at home. He and his partner have been featured in the book “The Float Tank Cure” by Shane Stott and in an article about floatation in TIME magazine with Dr Justin Feinstein and Professor Thomas Fine.

Rebecca-Houghton-200x200.png

Rebecca Houghton

Spoke at Float Conference 2016

As a partner and caregiver of an Australian Army Combat Veteran, Rebecca knows intimately the impact of service-induced stress and the ripple effect of trauma on partners and families.

Bek was left unimpressed by the evidence-based treatment of pharmaceuticals and exposure therapy for trauma and chronic pain which rendered her partner Michael cognitively numb, suicidal, and with little quality of life. Bek chose love over career, devoted herself to finding safe, healthy, and effective treatment options and helped manage his condition naturally – a journey which has seen them both sitting down with some of the world’s leading experts in alternative approaches to Traumatic Stress.

Leading by example, Bek was determined to create her own ‘positive’ ripple effect at home by overhauling their old lifestyle and incorporating daily mind-body-spirit practices. Being the primary support person for Michael has presented its own challenges for Bek, leading her to recognise the necessity of maintaining her own health and wellness by using the same treatment modalities.

Pete and Donna are the owners of At Peace Floatation and Massage in Colleyville, Texas. Pete, a former major league baseball player for 12 years, understands the importance of floating, not just for athletes, but everyone! Pete and Donna’s impetus for opening At Peace was to provide a place for people to decompress, subsequently allowing their restored immune system to aid in health and wellness of the individual. At Peace was opened in May 2008, and continues to operate, making it one of the oldest float centers in the U.S.

At Peace Spas Manufacturing began in 2013, with the hopes of providing a durable and reliable float unit, without the huge cost of acquisition. The cost of opening a float center comes down to cost of space (rent) and cost of float units. It has been our goal with At Peace Spas to keep the cost of the float units at a reasonable price. This has truly made us a value competitor when it comes to your decision on rooms, cabins, or pods. We understand the choices you have when purchasing your equipment, we want to help take the heartburn out of that decision. We are with you every step of the way, providing ongoing consultation with regard to rental space, layout, business planning and ideas. We are in the final phase of ETL designation which will be beneficial for new buyers when opening float centers when dealing with their local Health Departments.
